Hello everyone! I know I know…I’ve been very bad at keeping my blog running. It’s been a few weeks and I am truly sorry that I haven’t been updating my blog on a regular basis. It’s been a busy December with holidays, that I really didn’t have time to post. Well, actually I could’ve done some posting, but to be honest, I was very lazy and tired and I had zero motivation! I did take pictures though, but unfortunately there are so many that I don’t have the desire to post them LOL Talk about being lazy!
Anyways, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Our Christmases are always a blur. Christmas goes by so fast that it’s gone before you can actually take it all in. Christmas in the Winter house is very chaotic and crazy. I swear we have to find a better arrangement when spending time with the family. Christmas Eve is always at both the Paguyo side and the Winter side. My mom is a nurse and she works almost every Christmas. So on Christmas Eve is when my side of the family celebrates Christmas. Unfortunately, the Winter side also celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve and it always a mad dash at my parents house for Christmas. Eat supper and quickly open gifts and run to the Winter side to open gifts and have a late night snack. Then Christmas day is spent with the Winter side and Boxing Day is Paguyo side again. This is how we celebrate Christmas in my house and it is very tiring!
So, what big family event did the Winters do to welcome 2011??? Well, for Christmas, my sister inlaw gave the family Regina Pats tickets.
We went to see the Regina Pats vs. Calgary Hitmen. Of course, I could care less about hockey, but I endured it because the boys really wanted to go. I brought my new camera that I got for Christmas. Wayne bought me a Sony Cybershot Camera. I’m still trying to figure it out because I really don’t think it takes good pictures. Wayne keeps insisting it’s because I’m not doing it right and I should read up on it. Well, I did and it’s a bunch of mumble jumble stuff that I can’t understand! I’m just going to learn as a go and hopefully I’ll get the hang of it.
So, you want to see some pictures of the boys enjoying the game? Well, here they are!!!
LOL Okay…the pictures are of Andrew! It’s because no one else wanted me to take their picture. They wanted to watch the game without any interruptions! Oh well…at least I have my baby who loves his mommy and will do anything for his beloved mommy!
I did get a picture of Joshua with the Regina Pats mascot K-9.
The year 2010 has been a year figuring out what works for me fitness wise. I’ve struggled with my weight for the last few years and I have tried everything to help me slim down. I have done everything from step aerobics (which I was heavily involved until I realized it was a big no no for my body), weight training (low and high rep with light weights and heavy weights), yoga, pilates, circuit training, etc. Well, 2010 I discovered my love for barre workouts. Barre workouts are interval training workouts that uses body weight and light hand weights that uses dynamic exercises to overload the muscles to a point of relief to create long and lean muscles. The barre workouts I do are:
Barre workouts have completely changed my body. I’m not a very tall person, 5 ft 1/2 and my heaviest weight I was after the kids was 125 lbs.
I know not a very good picture But it’s the only one I have of me from 2009. The rest of the pictures are gone because of a stupid virus that our old computer had. Some advice regarding computers is ALWAYS save everything! We didn’t and we lost a lot of stuff because of that stupid virus.
Anyways, back to me and my road to fitness for 2010. Well, I also discovered running. From September 2009 to September 2010, I have ran three half marathons. Anyone who runs consistently and have not ran a marathon really should! It’s awesome and you feel an enormous sense of accomplishment after you are done!
This is me and my brother at the Queen City Marathon in September 2009. This was my first marathon and I completed it in 2hrs and 16mins! Not bad for a newbie, right?
This is me with The Running Room Founder, John Stanton. I was a pace rabbit for the Queen City Marathon in September 2010. As you can tell from both pictures that my body has been changing.
I stopped running right after QCM 2010, but I did continue with my barre workouts. I’ve been very consistent with barre, using the workouts six days a week. I haven’t add any cardio to my routine and in the last couple months I am now the smallest I have ever been since high school. Of course I still have that mommy tummy that I cannot get rid of. My tummy looks like a roadmap to hell! I’m hoping with barre workouts and cardio that there will be some improvement in the new year. My goal is to wear a two piece without feeling embarrassed for my stomach
This is how I look now after more than a year of barre work.
Of course, I had my children taking these pictures lol Oh well…and how do you like the picture with our dog, Maya and Andrew taking a picture of my backside?
The things that make kids happy!
Anyways, this year will be a year that I want to see what other changes my body will have with the help of barre. And my running itch might have returned. I’m looking at running the 40th anniversary of the Vancouver Marathon in May and the registration for the Queen City Marathon is at the beginning of February. Tonight I actually went on the treadmill for forty minutes and the adrenaline came rushing back It’s like I never left running. I’m planning on adding running into my routine in the upcoming weeks to help prep me for some marathons for 2011!
